"I am nostalgic for the pre-'Runners World' days, the pre-professional days, when runners did it for the love of the sport and not for money," said Whitney. "Guys would train all year, through the heat and humidity of the summer and the wind and cold of winter, all just to run in Boston. There was a purity to it then."
